Obszary Natura 2000 to najmłodsza z form ochrony przyrody, wprowadzona w Polsce w 2004 r. Powstają one we wszystkich państwach członkowskich Unii Europejskiej.Głównym celem funkcjonowania Europejskiej Sieci Ekologicznej-Natura 2000 jest zachowanie określonych typów siedlisk przyrodniczych oraz gatunków, które uważa się za cenne i zagrożone w skali całej Europy. Drugim jej celem jest ochrona różnorodności biologicznej.
Temu właśnie tematowi poświęcony był I Kongres Ekologiczny, który odbył się 30.09.2016r. w Soczewce.
Młodzież z Zespołu Szkół im. St. Staszica uczestniczyła w warsztatach ekologicznych tego dnia, realizując jedno z najważniejszych zadań, jakim jest podnoszenie stanu świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa, a zwłaszcza młodych ludzi.Z przekazanej przez prelegentów wiedzy skorzystała klasa I LO oraz klasa III TH/TK.
