02 października odbyły się w naszej szkole 2-godzinne warsztaty języka angielskiego z Brytyjką mieszkającą w Gąbinie- panią Michelle Glowacki. W spotkaniu wzięły udział 2 klasy liceum i 2 z technikum. Pochodząca z okolic Londynu pani Michelle prowadzi w Gąbinie własną szkołę języka angielskiego, która cieszy się dużą popularnością i uznaniem mieszkańców. Do Zespołu Szkół zaprosiła ją nauczycielka języka angielskiego- pani Agata Chyra, w ramach obchodów Europejskiego Dnia Języków Obcych.
Warsztaty rozpoczęły się od wspólnego zaśpiewania i zatańczenia „hokey cokey „- popularnej piosenki we wszystkich anglojęzycznych krajach. Miało to na celu odstresować uczniów, dla których było to pierwsze spotkanie z native speakerem. Następnie nasz gość przedstawił młodzieży zalety uczenia się języka angielskiego, jednocześnie wypytując młodzież o ich kontakty z językiem poza salą lekcyjną. Później przyszedł czas na zadanie w parach- uczniowie mieli sobie nawzajem zadawać pytania i odpowiadać na nie – oczywiście tylko po angielsku. W kolejnej części zajęć pani Glowacki nauczyła młodzież poprawnej wymowy kilku słów, które polscy uczniowie często wymawiają źle, takich jak „recipe”, „queue”, „tongue”, „chaos”, czy „aren’t”. Na koniec przyszedł czas na gimnastykę języka poprzez „łamańce językowe” czyli po angielsku „tongue twisters”.
Zajęcia z panią Michelle okazały się „strzałem w dziesiątkę”, ponieważ nie tylko pozwoliły posłuchać oryginalnego brytyjskiego akcentu, ale też były okazją do przełamania bariery w mówieniu i uświadomienia sobie, że lepiej jest mówić z błędami niż nie mówić nic.
