„Zawód nauczyciela jest trudny i odpowiedzialny, a jednocześnie szczególny…” – powiedziała w pierwszych słowach swojego wystąpienia pani Jadwiga Milewska, dyrektor Zespołu Szkół w Gąbinie, nawiązując do sylwetki patrona szkoły Stanisława Staszica, a następnie przywitała zgromadzonych gości, obecnych i emerytowanych nauczycieli, pracowników administracji oraz
młodzież. „Dzień Nauczyciela moim zdaniem powinien trwać cały rok, bo Państwa działanie to nie tylko ciężka praca, ale rzekłabym misja…” – takimi słowami rozpoczęła swoje życzenia pani wicestarosta Ilona Sierocka. „Składam Wam najszczersze wyrazy uznania, że wykonujecie swoją pracę za bardzo niskie wynagrodzenie na wysokim poziomie…” – to z kolei głos pani Ewy Kowalak, radnej Powiatu Płockiego i przewodniczącej ZNP, gratulującej jednocześnie wspaniałego patrona. „Życzę dalszego rozwoju i kontynuowania pięknych tradycji…” – przeczytała z listu burmistrza Krzysztofa Jadczaka pani Joanna Stańczak, sekretarz Urzędu Miasta i Gminy Gąbin. „1 września 1979 r. to dla mnie osobiście podwójnie ważna data, ponieważ Nasza Szkoła po dołączeniu Liceum Ogólnokształcącego zmieniła nazwę na Zespół Szkół im. St. Staszica, a ja rozpoczęłam tu pracę w charakterze nauczyciela.” – od takiej refleksji zaczęła swój wywód pani Anna Ostrowska, prezes Towarzystwa Miłośników Ziemi Gąbińskiej, a w dalszej części podkreśliła, że w Zespole Szkół znajdowała się pierwsza siedziba towarzystwa, a jego członkami było i jest wielu aktualnych lub byłych nauczycieli oraz absolwentów. Następnie pan Grzegorz Cichosz odczytał list od pani Beaty Baszczyńskiej – Misztal prezesa Towarzystwa Szkół Staszicowskich, w którym gratulując wspaniałego patrona, podziękowała za aktywny udział uczniów naszej szkoły w odbywającym się tydzień temu kongresie z okazji 30-lecia Szkół Staszicowskich. W imieniu Rady Rodziców życzenia wszelkiej pomyślności złożyła nauczycielom jej przewodnicząca, pani Tatiana Idzik. Uroczystość zaszczycili swoją obecnością również Pani Magdalena Osipowicz – Kansy – przedstawiciel Urzędu Miasta i Gminy Gąbin oraz Pan Tomasz Nowacki – radny Miasta i Gminy Gąbin.
„Wspomnienia, to jedyny wehikuł czasu, jakim dysponujemy…” – tymi słowami rozpoczęła swój rys historyczny dotyczący dokonujących się w ciągu 40 lat, od momentu nadania imienia Stanisława Staszica, zmian w Zespole Szkół pani Barbara Łukaszewska. Nawiązała do roli kierujących szkołą dyrektorów, aktywności nauczycieli, niezapomnianych chwil… Jej wykład pięknie uzupełniała przygotowana pod kierunkiem pani Elżbiety Ostrowskiej prezentacja multimedialna, w której znalazły się dokumenty i stare zdjęcia z historii szkoły.
Dzień nauczyciela to właściwa okazja, aby wspomnieć zmarłych w minionym roku szkolnym nauczycieli, pracowników administracji i uczniów, prowadząca uroczystość pani wicedyrektor Maria Elżbieta Błaszczyk poprosiła wszystkich o powstanie i uczczenie zmarłych minutą ciszy.
Ważnym punktem uroczystości był spektakl słowno-muzyczny „Staszicowskie wskazówki życiowe”, przygotowany przez młodzież liceum i technikum pod kierunkiem pani Beaty Rybnik, z pomocą pana Tomasza Obidowskiego.
Następnie pani dyrektor Jadwiga Milewska wręczyła wybranym nauczycielom nagrody dyrektora. „Nauka jest jak worek kamieni – albo wykorzystamy je jako kamienie milowe na drodze rozwoju młodzieży, albo ustawimy z nich trudną do sforsowania barykadę na drodze do sukcesu” i dodała „to dzięki Wam szkoła żyje, a uczniowie z przyjemnością do niej przychodzą”. Podziękowała też za solidną pracę pracownikom niepedagogicznym.
Całość uświetnił występ Zespołu Wokalnego Państwowej Szkoły Muzycznej I i II stopnia im. Karola Szymanowskiego w Płocku pod dyrekcją pedagoga sekcji wokalnej Edwarda Bogdana, podczas którego zaprezentowany został repertuar operowy, operetkowy i jazzowy. Artystów pożegnały gromkie brawa.
Scenografia została przygotowana pod kierunkiem pani Marii Olszewskiej.
