on one side the spe are the only one giving bonus to heal and on the other everything else is about placing effect on the target, the trouble is soo far we only have fire effect (electric effect are kinda hard to get). It also keeps a sniper out of my two primary slots leaving them open for what will basically be either a shotgun, LMG, or rifle and takes much less effort to pick someone off during the start of a fight than any of the primary snipers which I would really only use for a few seconds during most fights anyway.
My main reason for choosing it is ammo, pure and simple, I can score a headshot with any weapon to get some of that sweet 50 cal ammo, whether or not I use it is another story... With my play style being mostly run and gun when enemies are fairly close to midrange when they're well spread that puts me in a decent position to keep my rifle full up then I can use the excess to go for large targets or save it for the next encounter to take a couple key enemies out before starting conflict.

Demolitionist and firewall I find have the most relevant special weapons. For explosive builds you can use any spec and do a lot of damage, but if you want to maximize your explosive build then demo is clearly the best spec.
