No matter your route you will hike through some very steep sections and very rocky sections but there is hardly a spot on the trail that doesn’t offer a stunning view.

The views are fantastic throughout the entire hike, but going counterclockwise in the early morning is pretty spectacular as the sun hits the mountain and reflects onto the lakes. Towanda named a street after one of the victims but no one knows why. One is obviously incorrect.

We took the route clockwise, and it ended up being perfect for out starting time. I was able to make it to the summit and complete the 8 mile hike despite being at only 700 feet above sea level 48 hours earlier, and being in decent shape at best. Went up Sunday morning 8/16/20. Great afternoon hike! This includes a generous break at the summit. We didn’t make it to the TH until 7:45-8ish, but there was still some room along the perimeter of the parking lot. Our two dogs made it the entire 7 miles but slept for basically two days after hahaha.

During winter the peak can be reached by snowshoe or by skiing. This was probably the most difficult, but one of the most rewarding hikes I have done to date. Got to the trailhead about 9:30am and parked on the road.
